November 2005: Earthwatch Project: Carnivores of Brazil

We traveled to Brazil as volunteers for an Earthwatch project to study carnivores in Emas National Park in Mato Grosso de Sol state in west central Brazil. We spent about 10 days on the project, trapping maned wolves and pampas cats and attaching radio collars for further tracking. We also worked with the scientists to input data, work on electronic gear and collect film from camera traps. (For further information, go to the Earthwatch web site). After the project, we visited Fazenda Rio Negro in the Pantanal to view more wildlife. It is the site of other Earthwatch projects). For more pictures see http://www.mfaucher.com
